Camila Sposati
Born in São Paulo, Camila Sposati has been living between Brazil and Europe for many years. Her work delves into processes of transformation and energy, applying procedures that often resemble scientific research methods. She has examined both microscopic and global processes, such as the emergence of crystals in laboratories and the effects of geological activities on the Earth’s crust at different sites. In her work, Sposati overlaps material and historical processes as a way of challenging official time and its meanings.
Her research has taken her to the Amazon, the hinterlands of Northeast Brazil, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the UK, France, Holland and Japan. Her work has received support from the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, Goldsmiths College, Instituto Goethe, Mairie de Paris, the British Council, University College of London, Arts Catalyst, Tokyo Wonder Site and Centro Cultural Montehermoso Kulturunea. Her works have been exhibited at Vila Itororo, Goethe na Vila, São Paulo, (2018); BAK – base voor actuele kunst, Utrecht (2017); Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo (2013, 2017); the 10th Mercosul Biennial, Porto Alegre (2015); CCBB Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, Rio de Janeiro (2015); the 3rd Bahia Biennale, Salvador (2014); Eleven Rivington Gallery, New York (2013); HICA Highland Institute for Contemporary Art, Inverness-shire (2012); Centro Cultural Montehermoso, Vitoria-Gasteiz (2012); Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, Paris (2012); Tabakalera Donostia, San Sebastián (2020) and Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna (2020).
